[2.28.0] - 29 September 2026​

Summary​

This release brings the Gateways geolocation map back to life, now on Google Maps and with the same numbers as the table beside it. Frame Validation also learns a new kind of model: frames whose front and lens are modelled as a single Full Lens block.

New Features​

Full Lens models in Frame Validation​

GLB validation now accepts models where the front and the lens are built as one block. A single FL_ (Full Lens) group can take the place of the FF + LN pair:

  • One FL_ group – With no FF or LN in the model, a single FL_ group satisfies the component check.
  • No mixing – FL_ together with FF or LN is rejected, and so is more than one FL_ group.
  • Nothing changes for existing models – Models built with FF + LN are validated exactly as before.

Analytics › Gateways​

  • Geolocation map – The map is visible again. It had gone blank on 23 September 2026, when the previous map tiles provider started requiring a key; it now runs on Google Maps.
  • Same numbers as the table – Zoomed out, the map shows one circle per country; from zoom level 5, one circle per city. Each circle carries the same visit count as the matching row of the table.
  • Cities located via GPS – The Cities table, and the "Cities" count in the Excel report, now include the cities located via GPS, which were missing before.
  • Catalogue selector – Internal test gateways named "Custom" no longer appear in the catalogue selector.

  • Media sections – A Media section containing only an image or a video, with no title or text, is no longer marked "empty" in the editor. No content was ever lost: only the badge was wrong.

Summary​

My Catalogues has been redesigned from scratch: a grid and a list view, badges that tell you at a glance how each catalogue is published, publication and expiry dates, and the QR code one click away. In the Design Catalogue, every media slot now accepts a video as well as an image.

New Features​

My Catalogues, redesigned​

  • Grid and list – One design, two views. Switch between them from the top of the page; Studio remembers your choice in this browser. On phones and tablets the grid is always used.
  • Toolbar – Search is always visible, next to a With Digital Catalogue filter and a sort by name, date or SKU count. The Published / Expired / Drafts selector shows how many catalogues each tab holds.
  • Channel badges – Each catalogue shows how it is published: Iframe or Subdomain, plus Digital Catalogue when it has a designed public page.
  • Access – "Login required" / "No login" replaces the old Public / Private label.
  • Dates – Published and Expires for published catalogues (when a catalogue has more than one subscription, the one that ends last); Edited for drafts.
  • QR code – Opens in a popover, with Download PNG and Copy link.
  • Pending changes – A yellow badge next to the title flags a catalogue with unpublished changes. On a computer, the badge and the Review Changes menu item open the Design Catalogue on the draft, where you can check the changes and publish them. On a phone or tablet, the badge explains that changes are reviewed and published from a computer.
Publication date

The Published date is recorded from this version onwards. Catalogues published earlier show "—" until they are published again.

Video in the Design Catalogue​

  • One media field everywhere – Image or video is now a single field in Media (logo and cover), Editorial tiles and Info sections: a large preview, Desktop · Mobile tabs, and three actions in the order you use them — Choose from gallery, Frame, Crop. Pasting a link is still possible, as a secondary option.
  • Videos in your gallery – The Brand Identity gallery in your profile, and the gallery picker in the editor, have a new Videos tab. Each video is checked before it is uploaded: 3 to 10 seconds, up to 5 MB, MP4 (H.264) or WebM, longest side up to 1920 px. When a file does not qualify, the message tells you how to fix it — an iPhone MOV file, for instance, is refused with an explanation.
  • Frame, not crop – Videos can be framed like images; Crop remains available for images only.
  • Media column – On the Hero editorial template, the Media section lets you place the media on the Right or on the Left.

Improvements​

  • Colour reset – In Palette · Theme, a return arrow beside each colour picker brings the colour back to its default, as in the options panel.
  • Back to catalogues – The Design Catalogue header now has a single Back to catalogues button in place of the three-item menu on the logo. Leaving with unsaved work still asks whether to save the draft, publish or discard.

Bug Fixes​

  • 3D viewer – With the new lens rendering engine, two lens decals sharing the same material no longer come out dark or hidden behind temples and nose pads.

Summary​

This release improves the still images rendered from the 3D viewer — image renders, Frame Validation renders and product thumbnails — for variants that use the new lens rendering engine.

Still images from the 3D viewer​

  • Lenses at full resolution – The see-through effect of lenses is computed at the resolution of the image being produced, not at the size of your screen, and a still can use more transparency layers than the live viewer.
  • Large images – Very large stills, such as 4K, are rendered in tiles, so they can be produced even where graphics memory is limited.
  • Seamless ground reflection – The reflection on the ground is the same across the whole image, with no steps where the tiles meet.
Rendering time

Stills of variants that use the new lens rendering engine take longer to produce: about twice as long at standard size, and more at 4K. This is most noticeable when generating many thumbnails at once.

Bug Fixes​

  • Frame Validation and thumbnails – Variants set to use the new lens rendering engine are now rendered with it in Frame Validation and in batch thumbnail generation too. Previously those renders still used the previous engine.

Summary​

The Design Catalogue gains a page background colour, a real crop tool for your images, a banner that can follow the height of its cover, and a sidebar reordered around the way a page is built.

New Features​

Page background colour​

Palette · Theme has a new Background colour for the whole public page. While a background is set, the light or dark Colour scheme follows its brightness automatically (the editor shows "auto from background") and text contrast is recalculated on the public page. Clear the field to return to the background derived from your palette. The colour is kept when you change template or reset the page, and travels with Export and Import.

Crop images​

Logo, desktop cover and mobile cover now have a Crop button next to framing:

  • A new image, the original untouched – Unlike framing, cropping creates a new image in your gallery, beside the original.
  • Presets – Free, 16:9, 4:5 and 1:1.
  • Quality – The result keeps up to 2560 px on its longest side; PNG and WebP images stay PNG and keep their transparency.
  • Mobile cover – If you have no mobile cover yet, cropping for mobile starts from the desktop image and fills the mobile slot.
  • Where it is not available – Images from outside the gallery and a logo inherited from your brand cannot be cropped; the button explains why.

On the Classic Grid template, the header banner Height can be set to auto: the banner follows the cover image, showing the whole picture with no crop, up to 60% of the screen height.

Improvements​

  • Sidebar order – The editor sections now read: Page template, Palette · Theme, Page, Header · Banner, Media, Filters, Grid, Card, VTO Explorer, Merchandising, Info sections, Editorial tiles, Content. Sections you had left open stay open.
  • "Copy the delta" removed – The button has left the toolbar; Export and Import cover the same need.

  • Media section images – Images added to a Media section are now uploaded to your team's gallery, instead of existing only in your browser.

Bug Fixes​

  • The link now works – The link in the verification email completes the verification and confirms "Email verified". In 2.24.0 it opened the password reset page and reported the link as invalid.
  • Links already received – A link sent by 2.24.0 was not used up and can be opened again. If it has expired, send a new one from your profile.
  • Clearer messages – An expired or invalid link now says whether it was an email verification or a password reset link.
  • Straight to setup – Right after verifying your email you can set up the authenticator app, without being refused first.

Summary​

Verifying your email address is now part of Studio. Two-factor authentication requires a verified address, and until now there was no way to verify it from inside the application.

Email code as a second method​

Under Profile › Two-factor authentication, a second card, Email verification, protects your account with a 6-digit code sent to your email at sign-in. Only one method can be active at a time: to switch, turn off the current one first.

"ARShades Studio has been updated"​

When a new version is released while Studio is open in your browser, a notice asks you to reload the page to continue. Studio checks every few minutes, and as soon as you come back to the tab, so a tab left open for days no longer keeps running an old version.

Improvements​

  • Sign-in after an update – A new release now ends previous sessions consistently: after an update you are always asked to sign in again.

Summary​

Two-factor authentication arrives in Studio. In the catalogue detail, the Assets List gets a new search bar, the merchandising data of each variant and a choice of which columns to show.

New Features​

Two-factor authentication​

Under Profile › Two-factor authentication you can protect your account with an authenticator app (TOTP):

  • Set up – Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password…) and enter the 6-digit code it shows.
  • Sign-in – Once enabled, Studio asks for the code from your app after your password.
  • Turn off – From the same card; Studio asks for your password again first.
  • Lost device – Administrators can reset two-factor authentication for a user from Admin › User Security › Reset 2FA.
Optional, and it needs a verified email

Two-factor authentication is optional: nobody is required to turn it on. It requires a verified email address — the verification flow arrived with 2.24.0 and works fully from 2.24.1.

Assets List: search, merchandising and columns​

  • Search bar – A full-width search bar at the top, the same as in Frame Validation: press Enter to search, the X to clear. Filters now sit above the table, which takes the full width of the page.
  • Merchandising – Variant details have a new Merchandising section with price and its validity dates (Price From / Price To), sale price and its period (Sale From / Sale To) and badge, or N/A when missing. The variants table gains Price, Sale and Badge columns; variants without prices stay at the bottom whichever way you sort.
  • Manage Table – A new toolbar button lets you choose the visible columns of the products table and of the variants table. The choice is saved per catalogue in your browser, and is available on mobile too.
Stored values

The Merchandising section and columns show the values stored for each variant. The public page shows a price or a sale only within its validity period.

Bug Fixes​

  • Column widths – Adding columns no longer squeezes Priority and Size down to a single character or makes headers overlap.

[2.22.1] - 11 September 2026​

Summary​

This entry gathers ten months of releases in one place. The headline is the Design Catalogue: a full-screen editor that replaces banners and colour pickers with a real design tool for your published catalogue. Alongside it, Catalogue Settings collapses the old multi-step Modify flow into a single screen, Manage Prices brings prices, discounts and badges into the catalogue, and Mirror Analytics gives ARShades Mirror owners a dashboard of their own. Underneath, Studio became usable on phones and tablets, considerably faster, and noticeably better at rendering lenses in 3D.

What this entry covers

Between 2.8.0 and 2.22.1 ARShades Studio went through fourteen minor releases. Rather than reconstruct each one, this entry groups what actually changed for you by area. Versions covered: 2.8.1, 2.8.2, 2.9.1, 2.11.0, 2.12.0 to 2.12.3, 2.13.0, 2.14.1 to 2.14.6, 2.15.0, 2.16.0, 2.17.0, 2.18.0 to 2.18.2, 2.19.0, 2.20.0, 2.21.0, 2.22.0 and 2.22.1.

New Features​

Design Catalogue​

Your published catalogue now has a design tool instead of a handful of scattered settings. Design Catalogue opens from the catalogue menu as a full-screen editor with a live preview of the real page beside it:

  • Page template – Choose the layout of your catalogue page from a list of templates, each with a description.
  • Theme – Primary, secondary and accent colours, light or dark scheme, font preset. The palette starts from your catalogue's own colours and can be realigned to them at any time.
  • Media – Logo and cover image, each with an optional mobile variant and a non-destructive reframing tool: drag to reposition, zoom, choose cover or contain. The original file is never modified.
  • Content – The free-text keys of the page (call-to-action labels, eyebrows, descriptions), each shown inside the section it governs. Leaving a field empty restores the template default.
  • Layout options – The behaviour of header, filters, grid, cards and explorer, grouped by area, with a separate mobile state for every responsive option.
  • Sections – Repeatable information blocks at the end of the page: text, media or store blocks, reorderable.
  • Tiles – Editorial cards interleaved with the products. Their size comes from their position, so reordering them changes the layout.
  • Merchandising – How prices, discounts and badges are presented on the public page.
  • Live preview – The preview updates as you edit, on a desktop or mobile frame of your choosing.
  • Undo – A one-step undo, also available with Cmd/Ctrl+Z.
  • Export and import – Save the whole configuration as a file and reapply it to another catalogue.
  • Works on drafts too – Open the editor on a draft catalogue and it saves to the draft, with no risk of publishing early.
  • Exit guard – Leaving with unsaved work asks whether to save the draft, publish, or discard.

Catalogue Settings​

The old Modify Catalogue stepper is gone. In its place, a single screen holds the catalogue's name, its SEO metadata and its access permissions, with direct save and an immediate Publish. It works the same way on published catalogues and on drafts, so there is no longer a separate path for each.

Creating a catalogue is correspondingly shorter: the Customization step now asks only for the name. Logo, cover and palette live in the Design Catalogue, where you can see what they do.

Manage Prices​

Prices now belong to the catalogue rather than to a spreadsheet on someone's desktop. Manage Prices, in the Assets List toolbar, works in the same shape as Bulk Add:

  • Download a spreadsheet already filled with your catalogue's SKUs, in CSV or Excel.
  • Fill in price, discount, validity window and badge.
  • Upload it back and read the review before writing: it tells you exactly which rows change, not merely how many.
  • The merchandising panel in the Design Catalogue switches on only once prices exist.

Mirror Analytics​

Owners of ARShades Mirror stations have a section of their own under Analytics › Mirrors: sessions per station, the try-on journey step by step, where visitors abandon it, demographics of the people recognised, photos captured and shared, and a per-station comparison. Two Excel reports are available, one per store and one per location. The full guide is Analytics for Mirrors.

Reset your own password​

A dedicated Reset Password page completes the forgotten-password flow, with clear validation and feedback at each step.

Respond to a quote​

When a 3D asset order comes back with a quote, you can now answer it directly from the order, without a separate exchange.

Improvements​

The whole application on phone and tablet​

Every section of Studio was reworked for small screens: catalogues, products and variants, the ARShades Library and its filter panel, orders, tickets, teams, profile, analytics and notifications. The filter panel becomes a drawer, tables become readable cards, and the menu becomes a hamburger that opens where you expect it.

Some actions remain desktop-only by design, because they need the space: Bulk Add, Manage Prices and the reorder dialogs are hidden on a phone.

A faster Studio​

A sustained performance effort cut both waiting time and data usage:

  • Home loads in sequence rather than all at once, so the first useful information appears immediately.
  • The ARShades Library pages properly instead of fetching more than it shows, with images processed at the size they are displayed and requested only once.
  • Library statistics are computed server-side, with no scan of the full product set.
  • Safari and iOS no longer hang on loading: the cause was identified and the connection strategy changed accordingly.
  • The application is split by route, so opening Studio no longer downloads the parts you are not using.

ARShades Library: filters that know what exists​

The filter panel became a faceted search: it hides options that would return nothing given your current selection, and narrows Brand and Line automatically once you pick a Manufacturer. New dimensions were added along the way — Manufacturer, Frame Shape, Material, Treatment, Hinge Type, and frame and lens colours as proper colour tags. Sizes now exist in two systems at once, Calibre (52, 54) and Simple (S/M/L), switchable from the panel.

3D viewer: lenses that look like lenses​

The 3D viewer learned to render transmissive materials properly — tinted, blurred and layered as real lenses are, rather than as flat transparent surfaces. Double clip-on models are handled as a sequence (apply, change, remove) and framed on the frame itself. Rendering quality now adapts to the device, and a series of platform-specific defects were corrected on macOS and on Android.

Gateways: aggregated data and a branded report​

Gateway analytics now work on aggregated data by default. Two consequences for you: the page is faster, and no device identifier ever reaches the browser or the exported report. The Excel export was rebuilt in the same branded style as the Mirror report, and a last 12 months filter was added.

Catalogue password​

The password that protects a catalogue is now verified, never decrypted. In practice: Studio can tell you whether a password is set, but no longer shows it back to you — and leaving the field empty when editing no longer erases the existing one, which was an easy accident to have.

Bug Fixes​

  • Safari and iOS – Fixed the hang that could leave the application on a loading screen after login.
  • Login – Removed the flicker and the brief loop between the login and home screens; the login page now fits a phone screen properly.
  • Session – Logging out now clears the previous user's cached data, so a second login never shows the first user's figures.
  • Catalogue counts – Product and SKU counts in the Library are exact rather than progressive, and respect what each role is allowed to see.
  • Search – Changing a filter no longer leaves a stale search term behind, which used to produce results that did not match the panel.
  • Drafts – Publishing a draft is now a single atomic operation; a password removed from a draft no longer reappears.
  • Thumbnails – Product previews wait for the model to be ready instead of showing an empty frame, and reset correctly when you switch variant.
  • Modals – The close button is now the same size and in the same place everywhere.
