Daily Use

Daily Power On and Shutdown

Each day, follow this routine:

  1. Power on the Mirror by pressing the power button on the back or bottom of the device.
  2. Wait for the system to boot — this may take up to 60 seconds.
  3. The Showroom application will launch automatically after startup.
  4. At the end of the day, power off the Mirror by pressing and holding the power button until the shutdown screen appears, then confirm.
tip

Leave the Mirror powered on during opening hours. There is no need to switch it off during short breaks — the system manages standby and screen timeout automatically.

Restarting the Mirror

A restart may be needed if the interface becomes slow or unresponsive. To restart:

  1. Press and hold the power button for 5–10 seconds until the device turns off.
  2. Wait 15 seconds.
  3. Press the power button again to turn the device back on.

Typical Usage Flow

The ARShades Mirror Showroom is designed for self-service use — no staff assistance or user authentication is required. The customer interacts with the Mirror independently using touch commands, on-screen visual guides, and multilingual audio prompts.

The experience combines three complementary modes:

  • Real-time virtual try-on — the customer explores eyewear models and sees them overlaid on their face via the camera.
  • Personal showroom — the system captures guided images of the customer and generates a personalised gallery with the selected models realistically overlaid.
  • Content retrieval — via a temporary QR code, the customer can download or share the generated images on their smartphone.

Customer Interaction — Step by Step

1. Welcome Screen

The customer approaches the Mirror and is greeted by a welcome screen (splash screen) with optional dedicated branding. A call-to-action prompts them to start the experience.

2. Initial Selection

The customer selects an initial category — for example Men, Women, or Unisex — and then one or more product types and available brands to filter the experience.

3. Catalogue Navigation

The customer browses the available models through the digital catalogue, using quick filters and advanced filters to refine the selection.

4. Product View and Virtual Try-On

After selecting a model, the customer can:

  • View it in 3D View mode.
  • Try it on in Try-On mode (real-time overlay on their face).
  • Choose size and colour variants, where available.
  • Browse other related or selected models.

5. Starting the Personal Showroom

The system proposes the creation of a personal Showroom, guiding the customer through building a personal shortlist and choosing a style or colour preference. The customer is informed that facial images will be captured for generating the personalised gallery, and the applicable privacy notice is referenced.

6. Guided Image Capture

The software guides the customer through the photo acquisition with visual and audio instructions, for example:

  • Look straight at the camera.
  • Remove any glasses.
  • Turn the face according to the on-screen directions.
  • Confirm or retake the shots.

7. Personalised Showroom Generation

Once the capture is complete, the system processes the content and builds an augmented personalised catalogue. The products (all or filtered) are displayed on the customer's face as a grid of digital cards. Each card includes:

  • A realistic, processed image of the customer wearing the eyewear.
  • The product name and brand.
  • Indicators showing the availability of alternative colour options.

The customer can also set their preferred view — front, right, or auto — according to the options provided by the system.

8. Building the Favourites Shortlist

The customer refines their choice by selecting the models of greatest interest from the augmented catalogue, building a personal shortlist. Selection is done directly on the catalogue cards via the "+" button.

9. Colour Variant Selection via Virtual Try-On

With the preferred models selected, the customer enters the colour variant selection phase. The system guides them through the virtual try-on, allowing them to try on the shortlisted models and change colours in real time. The customer can express preferences on their favourite variants — for example via a "like" function — to refine the final selection.

10. Final Shortlist Presentation

After the colour variant selection, the system presents the final shortlist of chosen products. For each selected product, a final card is shown containing two images of the customer — typically the front view and the right-side view — offering a more complete representation of the product worn. This final gallery is the conclusive summary of the customer's selection.

11. Experience Rating and Image Retrieval

At the end of the experience, the final screen asks the customer to rate the experience (from 1 to 5). If the customer wishes (via the "Get your photos" button), the system generates a temporary QR code that allows them to access the produced images from their smartphone.

12. Download, Sharing, and Deletion

The customer can select, download, share, or delete the generated images, according to the options made available by the project configuration and the applicable privacy notice.

13. Session End or Timeout

The session can end either by the customer's voluntary action or by inactivity timeout, according to the system's usage and configuration logic.
