Requirements

Last Update: 25/03/2026

Before installing the ARShades Shopify Plugin, ensure your store and environment meet the following prerequisites.

Shopify Requirements

  • Active Shopify Store: You need an active Shopify subscription (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus).
  • Theme Architecture:
    • Online Store 2.0 (Recommended): The plugin is optimised for OS 2.0 themes (e.g., Dawn) using App Blocks. This allows for code-free installation via the Theme Editor.
  • Product Data: Your Shopify products must have valid SKU, UPC, or EAN for synchronisation to work.

ARShades Account

  • Licence Token: You must possess a valid ARShades Licence Token. This can be found in the ARShades Studio dashboard within the details of your Subscription, viewable on the Subscriptions page.
  • ARPDMeter Module: If you want to use ARPDMeter, your subscription must include the ARPDMeter module (standalone or bundled with VTO).

ARPDMeter-specific Requirements

  • Active ARPDMeter License: The module must show as Active in the "Other products / Available Add-Ons" section of the ARShades dashboard. Without an active license, the block will display a license activation prompt instead of the functional component.
  • OS 2.0 Theme Sections/Templates: The ARShades PD Meter block can be added in any compatible Online Store 2.0 section or template (not limited to product pages).
  • Camera Permission: The measurement flow requires device camera access. End users must grant browser camera permission when prompted.
  • Recommended Placement: Position the block near primary CTAs (buy button, lens selection) for maximum visibility and usage.

Browser & Device Support

The Virtual Try-On experience runs entirely in the web browser (WebAR) and requires:

  • Camera Access: Users must grant permission for the website to access their webcam or front-facing camera.
  • HTTPS: Your store must be served over HTTPS (standard for Shopify) for camera permissions to work correctly.

Limitations

  • Storefront: The standard plugin is designed for Shopify Liquid themes. If your store uses a fully custom or legacy theme (e.g., without OS 2.0 “drag & drop” App Blocks), you can still integrate ARShades by using the Manual Integration mode, which lets you add the required configuration and buttons directly into your theme’s .liquid files.

For license scenarios and status checks, see ARPDMeter License.
For component properties in Theme Editor, see ARPDMeter Component (Theme Editor).
