ARShades Mirror Portrait
ARShades Mirror Portrait is the edition of the ARShades Mirror station with a linear, guided path: the visitor chooses category, type and brand, browses the catalogue, opens the product sheet with an interactive 3D viewer and moves on to the real-time virtual try-on, with photos delivered via QR code.
The station (touchscreen, camera, connectivity, audio) is supplied by ARShades as part of the service and runs with the screen in portrait (vertical) orientation. Portrait and Photobooth can run on the same station: the edition is selected by the physical orientation of the screen.
How the experience works
- Waiting video — vertical branded screensaver; a touch starts the session. The language selector is always available.
- Category — men, women, unisex, kids.
- Type — optical, sun, clip-on and the other types available in the catalogue.
- Brand — among the brands configured on the station.
- Catalogue — the frames matching the selection.
- Product sheet with 3D viewer — rotate, zoom, switch colour variants.
- Real-time try-on — the frame on the visitor's face, with adjustments and colour variants.
- Photos via QR code — download, share or delete the photos from the smartphone. No app and no registration are needed.
- End of session — voluntary or after a period of inactivity; the station returns to the screensaver.

Photos, QR code and privacy
Before any photo is taken, the visitor is informed and can consult the ARShades privacy notice and Terms on the station. Face landmarks are processed in real time on the device, without persistent templates or identity recognition; no video stream leaves the station. Only the photos the visitor chooses to obtain are uploaded temporarily to servers in the European Union, to be delivered via QR code. The visitor can delete them immediately; in any case they are automatically deleted by the day following the session.
The on-device AI module may estimate, in anonymous and aggregated form, gender, age range and presence of glasses for statistical purposes. The estimation of further demographic attributes is disabled by default and may be enabled only for a specific project, subject to prior legal assessment. See the ARShades Privacy Policy.
Station, installation and daily operations
The Portrait edition runs on the same station as the other editions. Follow the Showroom guides, which apply to every edition unless stated otherwise:
- Unboxing · Package storage · Returns
- Mirror assembly · Camera installation · Powering on
- Wi-Fi setup · Positioning and environment
- Maintenance and cleaning · Software updates
Activation is performed remotely by ARShades after the physical installation by the venue staff; a remote start-up and training session is included. In retail, the service period runs per station from the remote activation; a backup unit and 7-day support coverage are optional add-ons (included in event packages).
Support
Use the support request form with the serial number of the station. Standard coverage is on weekdays; extended 7-day coverage is included in event packages and can be activated for a period in retail. For common issues see Troubleshooting.

- Camera centring and visitor tracking are available only when a PTZ camera is part of the configuration.
- Frames without a valid 3D asset do not appear in the catalogue.
- Custom journeys, interface changes and integrations are custom projects, quoted separately.
